Mitchen's Gentle Melody

Lina. I stumbled upon this name while browsing a list of Swedish female names on Wikipedia. After some hesitation , it stayed. It may mean nothing — or it may mean everything. It could simply be Lina, in Polish, as in Polish it means a rope: strong, steady, a thread that binds worlds together. We might say it comes from the Latin linum — flax, golden flax like her fur. Or we could wander into Persian, where Lina means light, a sunbeam, a spark that kindles new places in the heart… That’s what I wrote about Lina a few months ago, when she was a little puppy. Now, when she’s about 15 months old, I can add that a rope can also wrap around a person, tie her up, and then pull her far, far, very far outside her comfort zone Linka turned out to be an incredibly versatile youngster: the kind who not only brings sheep back from the pasture, but also hunts mice in the barn, guards the yard, and even makes sure there’s fresh game for dinner Yessss, her adolescence was a wild ride   Thanks to her, I’ve met new people, visited new places, and explored new ways of doing things. I’m grateful for that ❤️ but I’m not eager for a quick repeat 😉

What can I say about her? She’s beautiful in that universal way that makes strangers stop on the street. She has an effortless charm and a natural personal appeal, and there’s a kind of raw poetry in the way she moves: powerful, athletic, and agile. She presents a strange-to-grasp mix of toughness and resilience in some contexts, and softness, even submissiveness, in others. She’s a talented little shepherd. She tugs on toys with such intensity it can be scary. She loves doing things with me, but also has no problem doing nothing. She likes watching and observing. She’s bright, intelligent, and funny. It’s impossible not to like her 🙂
